Happy Mother's Day

My mom passed away 12 years ago. I was 23, a brand new mommy and married for less than 2 years. She passed away during a time in my life that I needed her the most. So many times I've wanted to pick up the phone and call her and share my thoughts, worries, excitement and joy. So many nights I ached so deep inside my soul to hear her voice. To hear her laugh. I still miss her everyday. I wish she could be here to see who I've become. To be a part of our lives. Mother's Day now is a mixture of sadness and joy. To get me through the rough times, I look at my beautiful girls and see my mom in them:

Madison-she takes after my mom with her creativeness and friendliness!

Delaney- she cares about others feelings and wants to help everyone she meets!

Riley Ruth Ann- she is named after my mom and has her deep brown eyes, the ability to make things all better just by smiling, and her stubbornness!

My mom was such an amazing woman, it has made me who I am today. She raised me to be prepared for the world, to stand up for myself, be independent, how to laugh at myself, to love unconditionally, and how to forgive.

So even though I lost her at such a young age, when I thought I needed her the most. I look back now and realize she prepared me for life all along. I needed her, but did not really "need" her. She did her job. Very well. I love you mom! Happy Mother's Day!
